how can i save money on a flight? i'm trying to go from Indy to Houston in July. So far, the cheapest I can get a flight for through American Airlines is about 320 dollars. I've literally tried every website you can think of, it's ridiculous. What are some ways to save money on flights that may not be too obvious or utilized? I'm a college student interning in Indiana so I have to be pretty strict with how I spend my money to travel back home to Texas.
Any help or tips are appreciated.
I'm working an internship right now that I just started three weeks ago. There's no physical way I could've been able to book 2-3 months in advance, seeing as I didn't even know I was chosen for the job until mid-April, and had to speak to my supervisor in person to get the time off to travel.

Since you are flying in July which is peak travel time, ticket prices will not be cheap. Also tickets should have been purchased about 2 or 3 months ago. Ticket prices are generally cheaper if you buy them earlier. As you wait, the cheaper seats are sold out and only the more expensive ones are left. I suggest you be flexible with your dates of travel and see if http://www.southwest.com has anything.
