Q&A
  • How much are the buses from Malaga to Algeciras, Spain? so I have found the timetables: http://www.ctsa-portillo.es/ima/pdf/algeciras.pdf and http://www.ctsa-portillo.es/ima/pdf/malaga-estacion.pdf .. but I didn't find the prices anywhere, also can i reserve online tickets ? ... and if you can, I'm not sure what type of buses are they reffering to (especially since some rides are 3hours long while others are only 2 or less so I don't understand the huge time difference) thank youuu
    • You can book online here http://www.venta.avanzabus.com/compra/busqueda9.jsp I entered a random date for next week and the fare is very reasonable approx €15. Before buying online, click the 'tarifas especiales' for offers The reason for the time difference is that some buses are direct and some stop off at towns en route.
  • When is the best time to book a flight? I am looking into visiting a friend in Malaga, Spain over the next upcoming spring break (March 11-17 2012). Right now fights average around 1,041 roundtrip. I was wondering if they will go down in price at any point? I know my friend got a plane ticket to Spain for 900 bucks. Any help is appreciated! Thanks! Ah sorry, completely forgot about that. I would fly out of Minneapolis.
    • I would keep checking... I think that 10 months in advance is too early. I would say around 6 months before your desired departure (so in your case, around September 2010) start checking weekly. Sometime in the 3 to 6 month range, you'll see the fare go as low as it ever will. Buy the ticket. Don't wait too long, though, or you'll miss the boat. The ticket price will start to increase again. Good luck.
  • A cheap hotel in Malaga? With semana santa I'm going to Malaga (city). Does anyone happen to know a cheap hotel right in the centre? Prices preferably not over 50€, as long as it is really in the middle of everything. Thanks a lot!
    • With Semana Santa most probably everything will be full. I liked Hotel Venecia - it is right in the centre at the main avenue. It's small, calm and cosy and it's just a few steps to the main shopping street and the old centre and everything. Also Hostal La Palma... but that is more for if you are a backpacker.
  • CAN I BUY A USED CAR ABROAD IN MALAGA,SPAIN THROUGH YAHOO????????? I HAVE RECENTLY SEEN A BMW AT A VERY ATTRACTABLE PRICE, AND THE OWNER SAID THAT I PUT THE MONEY THROUGH YAHOO AND UNTILL THE CAR COMES THE SELLER WILL NOT RECIEVE THE MONEY. IS IT A SCAM???????????????
    • A well known and well worn scam. You need to take a lot into account when buying a car in Spain due to the fact that all sorts of debt can be attached to vehicle, which the new owner will automatically assume liability for - read this article before you buy any vehicle in Spain - http://www.tumbit.com/how-to-guides/articles/73-checks-to-make-before-buying-a-used-car-in-spain.html
  • Cheap flights from London to Malaga? I'm looking to travel fro London to Malaga, return for 4 people on the 12th September, and return a week later. I've been traipsing the internet for days looking for the best price, but some websites seem dodgy (edreams asks for your passport number just to register on the website) and others seem cheap but then you pay a fortune for luggage etc... (that'll be Easyjet then!). Can anyone recommend a genuinely cheap airline/website with good customer service please?
    • Unfortunately, booking this late for weekend flights in the near future means that the flights are no longer cheap. However I'm giving you 5 choices of airline and you may be surprised to know that Easyjet are not only the cheapest overall but, also, cheapest for luggage. Where airlines have more than one flight on your dates I have given you the cheapest combination of flights. Easyjet from London Gatwick - £150.80p + £18.00p for luggage to 20kgs Thomson Airways from Gatwick - £148.96p + £20.00p for luggage to 20kgs Monarch from London Gatwick - £154.00p + £19.98p for luggage to 20kgs Ryanair from London Stansted - £157.25p + £30.00p for luggage to 15kgs Aer Lingus from London Gatwick - £187.56p + £24.00 for luggage to 20kgs All of the above prices are the total for return flights & include taxes, charges etc. Please be aware that in the case of Ryanair & Aer Lingus there is also a "handling fee" of £10.00p per person (£5.00p each way). As far as Veuling is concerned they fly from Heathrow but go to Seville not Malaga. I travel to Malaga 4 times a year and fly on almost every occasion with Easyjet.
  • what are normal prices for things in paris or spain? i am visiting malaga spain and paris. i was wondering how much things cost as in food, clothing, and overall, how much i would be spending a day if i rented an apartment in paris. (excluding the cost of the apartment)
    • I travel most of Europe for about 100 Euro per day, for a few days Paris I need about 150 Euro per day, and that is being careful with my money, not going out to shop. It is possible to do with less, being very careful where you eat, doing your food shopping in a supermarket and only see the famous sights by walking past them, not worth the savings if it is your first time in Paris.
  • Malaga this weekend, prices are simply too big, flying from Dublin or London, how else could I get there? Was thinking flying to Gibraltar and getting the train from La Linea, anyone ever travelled a different and quick route to Malaga? thnx
    • Pity, after this weekend, schools go back and prices will drop on the budget airlines, quite dramatically as well. Flying will be the cheapest way by far in November.
  • Flights 2 Malaga in May half term, 24-31 May, will airlines offer sale prices on these flights? I am trying to get flights for the May Half Term week to Malaga that are under £200! I am getting married there on the 25th of May and have family coming over but prices are sky high! I had to book the wedding over bank holidays as family with kids would not be able to come otherwise and I thought they could get a good deal on a holiday. Prices are over £200 at the moment - does anyone know if these prices will reduce when it gets nearer the date!?
    • I doubt it. I fly to Mallorca about 5 or 6 times a year, and the most expensive week of the year is the May half term. It is notoriously expensive, so much so that this year I am not going to bother. It is the first break that offers some sunshine - sunshine is not guaranteed at Easter - so families are anxious to take advantage of that, and as a result flight prices are very high that one week.
