You could try putting an ad on craigslist - there's a section called rideshare under community. Maybe you can find someone who is also traveling that same day and would be willing to give you a ride. For that matter, you could also put an ad under the gigs section with how much you'd be willing to pay - someone might be willing to do it for some $$$ over the cost of gas.

I just did a search under zip code 2007 under realtor.com and there are only 10 rental units below 3,000. and only 3 under 2,000. So pickings are slim. The condo market has exploded in DC...so there are probably lots of really good alternatives to Gtown if you don't HAVE to live there. No problem whatsoever. Head for the larger airconditioned shopping malls like Guerney Plaza and stores there cater for the taller women. (there are tall asian women too). There are other stores around town. If in any other store other than in a mall, you may haggle for prices (bargain). My family is originally from Penang. Enjoy your holidays! It's a coconut milk based dessert, with crushed iced, and made from green mung beans shaped as 'worms'.. but it's not worms.. just the shape. Sweetened with dark brown sugar, a big bowl for 30 cents (american)! You'll be addicted to it.
