Cost of living in Malta? I am going to Valletta for a week, just wanted to know what to expect and to make sure I take enough money with me.
I am interested to know how much is a coffee in a shop in town, rough price of main course meal, a drink in a bar, just so I can get a general idea.
Thanks

I was there in Sept last year, independently. Just like everywhere, go off the beaten tracks away from the tourist cafe and you'll find good value - especially in the cafes backing the market place in Valetta past the main church - all home made stuff. Because the place was British rule for an age, I thought most things were GB prices, give or take. At the bus stn, they have cheaper but fabulous rolls and pastries and not at cafe prices. Get a weekly bus pass to hop on and off wherever u go. Beer is over £1.80ish in smaller bars. Get a lonely planet guide for good measure! U will love Malta!!
