Q&A
  • business proposition? hello, I am Paul from Indah fig grower in Ipoh. Successfully cutivated fig tree(無花果) in Malaysia as dream comes thru, but this particular fig tree do needs a lot of spare time in growing as fig tree is deciduous tree. I need someone skilling to promote this rare fruit to outlets. People heard alot of fig 無花果, maybe someone ate before abroad, but in Malaysia it is very rare as FRESH FIG never been showcase in supermarket...but the dried ones. For someone with networking going with restaurants, cafes, hotel.......do add in this item to your business sale list. Dearlership mostly welcome !!! Do feel free to chat out the best WIN WIN business proposition. Thanks 012 453 6866
    • Why not send samples of your fresh figs to leading supermarkets throughout the world, send the samples to the chief executive officers in these large corporations and enclose a well written letter outlining what you have to offer them and the reasonable price that you are asking. Mention several times in the letter that you have FRESH figs, not dried and once the CEO's taste these fresh figs and see how delicious they are as compared to the shriveled dried figs they normally see in supermarkets, they will place an order with you. Pick countries that have strong economies and since you have a computer available to you, you can start your corporate search on Google or BING for the names of the CEOs and the corporate headquarters mailing addresses, fax and tel numbers. I hope this information helps you to obtain your goals Paul and good luck

  • Is my South East Asia Budget OK? Hi, I see this question has been added before but a few years ago so I thought this might give me an up to date answer! I am planning 9/10 weeks in Asia, and have a rough plan on how long i'll be in each place. I've done lots of researching but of course now I'm panicking that I'm all wrong! Any advice would be much appreciated :) I have planned 3/4 weeks in Thailand. £30 per day average ($47) Laos 2 weeks- £20 per day ($31) Cambodia 1.5 weeks £20 per day ($31) Malaysia 1.5 weeks £30 per day ($47) Singapore 1 week £40 per day ($63) SO a budget of approx £2000 ($3176) for 10 weeks. Do you think this is doable!? I understand I'd need to add in extra transport costs etc, but I'm unsure how much these would be. Also I get that some areas of Thailand for example are much more expensive than others, so I thought £30 per day might be a good average spending more in some places and less in others. Any thoughts, ideas or knowledge from people who've been would be SO helpful! x
    • If you plan to stay in Kuala Lumpur for the whole 1.5 weeks in Malaysia, I suppose that is sufficient. You can check into budget hotels in KL, and eat at average restaurants. Each meal would cost you no more than RM10 (about 2 pounds) if you avoid expensive restaurants. Street food in KL is basically dirt cheap (but NOT dirty). Many tourists enjoy the street food more than they do at fancy diners. If you plan to travel to other parts of Malaysia like Penang, Ipoh, Malacca or the islands, then you might want to spend more on the transportation. Bus tickets could cost you around RM20-RM100 (4 pounds to 20) depending on destinations and quality of service. Overnight trains could be an option too, price would range around the same but it takes an overnight journey, but you'll have a bed! Getting around in KL itself is cheap. Public transport is as cheap as RM1 (20pence) for LRTs, Monorail, Commuters and Buses. Avoid taxis, you can get around the city just by other modes than cabs (although they are still cheap, a 15 minutes journey could costs just around RM10 (2 pounds)). You can survive with such amount in Malaysia. Entrance to tourists attractions are either by donation or free, so no worries. Have a good holiday! p/s: Singapore would be more expensive than other SEA countries, they welcome richer tourists rather than budget (and REAL) travellers. There is not much to do other than shopping (what they are proud of), but I guess you wouldn't want to do that.

Best Malaysian city to live? I will be living in Selangor for two moth. After that I am thinking to move. Which city is good for foreigners. Which city have more jobs in Hospitality field? Low living cost with good earning. Or its bad decision to move to malaysia?
    • Where are you from. If you are from belarus, vietnam, costa rica, then it is better to live in Malaysia. But if you are from developed countries I dont see why you should move to Malaysia. The political scene is not that stable but then again, better then the likes of phillipines, indonesia, etc. I would recommend Ipoh if you move out of Selangor. Hospitality field is quite a demand here because one of its economic strength is tourism. And low cost of living, earnings are not that largely different then selangor. If a bank officer in selangor could make like 2500 with a degree, in Ipoh the pay might be 2500-2600 but the cost of living is really low compared to selangor cities. To rent a two storey house the average price is around 1000-1200 in Kuala Lumpur, in Ipoh a two storey house you can get like RM 500 and if you're lucky, you can find even lower then that. The food price also is a little cheaper. Ipoh is also a big town too(for Malaysian standard), so I highly recommended you to work there.
  • Recommended hair salons in Petaling Jaya or Ipoh? I have very dark brown hair and I want to dye it purple. I want to just get my hair bleached/lightened at a salon and I'll dye it purple myself. SO.. to go from dark brown to like a dirty blonde/light brown. I don't want to have to deal with the orange tones. Any recommended salons that are good at bleaching/dyeing/lightening hair in petaling jaya or ipoh area? State the estimated price too if possible. Thanks.

Malaysia - getting around? Thinking about going to Malaysia mid October. Few things I'd like to ask about getting around. 1. What types of public transport is available? Prices? Is the public transport system safe and easy for a tourist to use? 2. Taxi - Are they safe, what are the rates for getting around the city. Also what is an estimate for a trip from somewhere in the city to somewhere like Sepang (race circuit) or Ipoh. 3. Other means of transport like hiring a car or motorcycle - Costs and requirements? Thanks. Also, how much is the taxi fare from the airport to KL
    • I'll be talking about public transport in Kuala Lumpur because that is most probably the first place in Malaysia you'd explore. Public transport in KL is fine, in particular, rail transport.. it's not as integrated as the rail systems in Hong Kong and Singapore wherein interchanging from one line to another is a breeze. In KL, there are some stations with the same name (from different lines) but are usually some distance apart from each other. When interchanging, you'd have to get out of one station and get in on another. As for prices, they're way cheaper than Hong Kong or Singapore's rail systems. Generally it's safe. To get to KL Sentral (the central rail station in Kuala Lumpur), I suggest you just ride the KLIA Ekspres. It's a non-stop high speed train that will take you to KL Sentral in 28 minutes. 35 Malaysian Ringgits (MYR) one way (cheaper and faster than taking the taxi; usually it will cost you 70-80 MYR and it could take more than an hour).
