Q&A
  • How is mola kalyva, greece? Hey, Has anyone been to mola kalyva, greece? If so,can you please tell me if there are any interesting things to see and do there? Like clubs, museums anything at all that might be fun.. Thank you How can i get from Thessaloniki to Mola Kalyva?
    • You mean Mola Kalyva on the first leg of Chalkidiki, in Kassandra peninsula? It is considered to be the 'beach' resort of the nearby village (Palaia) Fourka. It is a place full of vacation homes of families and some hotels and rooms to rend. There are one or two beach bars that are SPLENDID, exactly on the beach, in a scenery that reminds the visitor of tropical islands. The sea is mostly rocky but the beach is sundy, as I said it reminds of tropical islands. There are only a few stores from where you can buy things to eat. It is a very nice place, but it is very close to many other resorts with nightlife (Mola Kalyva doesn't have an extensive nightlife, no night clubs, just beach bars), so you have to call a taxi or EVEN BETTER to rend a car. If you have a car, it is super easy to enjoy Fourka, Siviri, Elani, Poseidi, Kallithea and Afytos, pleases that are quite close, and you will be able to do the tour of the entire peninsula. There are MANY beaches to enjoy there and Mola Kalyva will be a quiet and calm bases to start doing it. In case you don't have a car and you still want to rent in some place with many nightclubs (no sleep at night), search for a room in Paralia Fourka (the beach is much better in Mola Kalyva). The prices are extremely low. Enjoy your holiday!!! ADD As I said before Mola Kalyva is a suburbe let's say. You can get there only by bus. The bus Station of Chalkidiki, KTEL, is close to the Airport but still it is much easier to get there (to the Station) by taxi. If you can't afford it (it's better to ask the taxi driver how much is the fee before you step on the taxi). Please look at this map at the bottom of this page http://www.in-ktel.gr/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=100 take the adress and put it to maps.google and then ask for advise how to get there. and for the routes look here, it's the site of Chalkidiki KTEL http://www.in-ktel.gr/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=1001
  • :D
Where is the best clubbing holiday? im thinking aiya napa or zante? cant afford ibiza i wud need abt £2000 so am goin nxt yr! hated malia it was overrated!
    • A very, but very affordable place is in Kallithea/Kryopigi/Afytos on the first leg of Chalkidiki, Kassandra peninsula. Here are photos of two big hotels in the area (there are many others too). http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_k-OvkHCWbBQ/RcWxN5m7D4I/AAAAAAAAACw/xr3dLSlSllg/s320/4AthosPalace+hotel.jpg http://mibstravel-bg.com/img/hotels%20Greece/palinibeach3.jpg Apart from the very good prices it is easy to reach by the Thessaloniki airport, you can find an affordable ticket (search Alitalia, Aegean, Easyjet, Airberlin). And of course you can tour in Thessaloniki (second largest city in Greece), tour around Mount Athos by boat, even tour on Sporades islands from the Nea Moudania port. Zante is wonderful though and very different from what you have already seen. Chalkidiki is a peninsula, not an island. Enjoy your holiday!
  • Is there snorkeling for teens and kids in Rhodes, Greece? and if so how much does it cost? thanks!
    • Kalithea is the best place for snorkeling. This is also where the boat day trips do scubba diving trips. Ladiko (Anthony Quinn bay) is also suitable for snorkeling with a calm bay having clear water The beach at Lindos, St Paul's bay is not to be missed if you're into snorkelling! ALso, the east beach at Lindos is another place. Lots of fish and calm, clear water The site below gives you details and prices Have a wonderful time :) ~ http://www.faliraki-info.com/Kallithea/scuba.htm
  • Is Halkidiki more expensive than Paralia Katerini and Olympic Beach? I was last year in Paralia and O.B. and we found great food and nice people aswell as lots of fun, clubbing, warm sea etc. This year we're not really certain if we want to go there back or if we will try Kallithea (Halkidiki). I know that the islands are more expensive than the rest of Greece. But i don't know anything about Halkidiki. Ex.: 1 pers. menu in Paralia aprox. 12 Euros. 1 0,33l beer about 3-4 Euros. ATV rent/day aprox. 25 Euros. club entrance 8 Euros. car rent/day 50 Euros. ice cream 3 Euros. juice 3-4 Euros. I'm more interested in the comparison of prices... Thank you.
    • I have a vacation home in Kallithea and my parents have a vacation home in Leptokarya (Katerini), so I could say that Kallithea is a little more expensive than Katerini but it is much more elegant and "in" place, with fantastic beach bars and many young people. You can only find the nightlife of Kallithea in an island and Olympic beach is more for families and less for people that want to have fun, whereas Kallithea is very suitable for families too. Eating out and drinking coffee in Kallithea would be quiet expensive but the super markets are rather cheap. You can rent a car for less than 50 Euros, a juice has about 3(or 4) Euros, a beer even 5-6Euros, a menu certainly 20-25 Euros at least.
Tips
I have to agree with the bad service and not caring. Although you get free breakfast ad wifi... Not worth the horrific service in bar and at desk. 1 star.
