Help for buying my first electic guitar? I've been playing guitar for about 3 years, but due to a lack of funds have been using my Washburn Lyon Acoustic for everything I play. The time has come to buy an electric, and I don't know quite what to buy.
I play a lot of different stuff, but I mostly play punk or alternative. I also highly enjoy playing metalcore, and will probably be playing that a lot once I get the electric, but seeing as I don't have an electric guitar, that has been a bit of a challenge so far.
My price range is around $400-500. I found a Gretsch Pro Jet at a local Cash Converters for around $450, but I heard that wouldn't be ideal for metal. I've also been checking out Schecters, and the Omen-6 or the Omen Solo both look quite nice. I've also seen other guitars for around the same price, but I've been told that either of the Schecters would probably be the best bet. Again, I'm not highly experienced with electric guitars and would like a bit of help deciding. Suggestions for different guitars are welcome as well. Thanks in advance guys! :)

Mostly you just need a solid body, fixed bridge guitar with two humbuckers. Here are some options: Ibanez ARX320 http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ARX320TCR/ Fender Blacktop HH Strat http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/StratBTRBK/ Jackson Dinky DKXT http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DKXTTR Schecter Damien Elite (better than the Omen) http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DMEL6DMB/ If you can swing a used or b-stock ESP LTD MH-1000NT that's a really great metal guitar - http://www.ebay.com/itm/ESP-LTD-Deluxe-MH-1000NT-Non-Trem-Electric-Guitar-B-/160729063671?pt=Guitar&hash=item256c32e0f7#ht_4167wt_971 Also check these Agile guitars: http://www.rondomusic.com/electricguitar-ss14.html ... and the Cort KX-Custom is nice too. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cort-KX-Custom-Electric-Guitar-Shadow-Blue-Burst-/380406315790#ht_662wt_971
