Travel from Barcelona, Spain to Florence, Italy? I want to travel from Barcelona, Spain to Florence, Italy. I'm hoping to cover the distance over the coarse of a month. Would that be possible, and still have time to see the sights? What would be a rough estimate for traveling by train?

Have a look at a map, get a guidebook, work out the places you like to stay along the way, plan to see sights that interest you, check train prices on the relevant national rail websites. You have so much time, and there is so much to see. You could stop at the following places - this is a guide only as there are so many cities, towns, villages you could see on the way, but you can't do justice to them all in a month. Just pick places that you find interesting and spend a few days in each: Perpignan Toulouse Albi Carcassonne Montpellier Beziers Marseille Avignon Aix-en-Provence Arles Toulon St Tropez Nice Monaco The Italian Riviera Genoa inland to Bologna then down to Florence or down the coast (harder by train but doable) maybe Cinque Terre, not a good place at the moment due to the floods, but could be OK when you want to travel. Pisa Livorno then inland to Florence
