Q&A
  • How much would a camcorder with a tripod with fairly good quality cost? So I really want a camcorder for Christmas so I can film a web show that me and my friends have been planing for months. My boyfriends iPhone has a camera with pretty good quality but I would really want to have another camera so we can take different shots at different angles, and I would like it to have a tripod so if I have to hold the camera still I can just set it down, and cause another thing I wanna do is commentaries or lets play's of video games. So what I would like to know is where might I be able to find the best price? What brands would you guys recommend? BTW this might also be a good time to advertise the web show. The name of it is What if...Oh shit, The name of the channel is W.I.O.S Productions or if you prefer the username it's ShittyBoxGuyDude. Please check us out if you can (or if you actually want to, IDK if this shit actually works) I know all we have uploaded is the teaser trailer, and I know that in the teaser trailer it said that it would be airing sometime during the summer and it's almost thanksgiving. But not to worry we should be getting something done soon (hopefully) And I'm sorry if this is a waste of time reading this, I'm just advertising this anywhere I can, whether it be youtube, facebook, yahoo answers, I would advertise it on twitter if I actually had one, but anyways I'm probably just wasting your time, I'll just shut up now......OK now......NOW!
    • your looking around $400 if you grab a cheapie with a svp t700 as the camera
  • Which is better for the price canon s95 or the canon 300hs? I have to admit I was looking on Flickr and can't really tell the difference in photo quality. I'd like the 24mm lens that comes with the 300hs, (I need a wide angle to take snap shots of apartment interiors) but the s95 has a bigger sensor and lower f stop. But I can pick up the 300hs for $125 so is it really worth it to pay $300 for the s95 when it doesn't even have a good wide angle lens?
    • I think you're better off with the ELPH 300 HS. There's one similar to the S95. It's the SX230 HS. It has GPS, 14x zoom, and 12.1 megapixels. It's currently at 199.
  • How much does the Travel Lodge on the bus-stand over Edmonton Green charge, per night, for rooms, please? Only, I'm thinking of heading back down my old way, to see all my old mates in Edmonton, in a few months' time, and that particular location'd be really handy, as it's right smack-bang in my old area. How much do they charge per night, for a room, though, please? Only, I can't find nothing online about their prices. I'd really appreciate your angles on this one, please, guys. Much obliged! Peace and love! Be lucky! :) Initially, I was gonna stay at the Black Horse pub, (near Green Street, up Enfield Highway), but if I can get in at this Travel Lodge, (which is actually ON the Green), then, even better still! :)
    • By the look of it, it doesn't open until 1st December. It says from £28, but not the exact price.
  • Cheap-o set of wedges worth it? Ive recently taken up golf last year, and im actually learning and picking things up quickly. My Pitching wedge is by far my most consistent club as far as range and accuracy. So i'm thinking of grabbing a set of 52-56-and 60 degree wedges. Might as well have 3 decent shots i can hit w/o having to throttle back on my wedge shots. I was looking at these: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=texan+wedges&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=10603097755702795529&sa=X&ei=B4HVTcHODKni0QH6oeyLBw&ved=0CGAQ8wIwBw&biw=1019&bih=939# they are dirt cheap, but hell, my whole set and bag only cost me 120 bucks. I'm not planning on buying into the absurdly priced golf equipment game just yet. But i mean how bad, or good, for that matter, could a club be? As long as it doesn't fall apart or shatter and it holds the same loft angle i see no reason. thanks internet
    • in wedges it can actually matter a lot in the quality of the club. these defiantly don't look like something i would invest in. I would recommendd not being a jew with your money as spend a little bit more. maybe go for like the old cg12 great old club much like the cg 15s and cg16s.
  • I need advice on my next lens? I have a Canon 18 - 55mm f/3.5 and some FD lenses. I want to trade them all in. I shoot movies indoors under low light which means I need a lens that 1. Is as wide angled as possible and 2. Allows as much light as possible. The Canon 17 - 55mm f/2.8 is perfect but way out of my price range. However I found a Tampron 17 - 50mm f/2.8 lens that is in my price range (half the price of the Canon) Are these lenses good, why are they so much cheaper, and will it suit my needs? The camera is a 7D. Lol I forgot about the light junkies. Unfortunately getting lights set up in some of my scenes would be impossible.
    • It sounds like you are trying to shoot movies with available light; that isn't a task for the faint of heart or those who are trying to do things cheaply. Things to consider: 1. Zoom lenses, by the compromised nature of their design, will never allow the same amount of light in that a fixed length lens will. A fixed length lens will ALWAYS be faster (let in more light). 2. Fast zoom lenses are ALWAYS more expensive (see #1). 3. Look at the way you work (your filming/shooting/scene composition) and see if you really need a zoom lens to get what you want. I THINK you meant "Tamron" up there—Tamron makes a decent lens, but when you're talking about critical work such as low-light action shooting, the differences between any Tamron lens and a Canon lens will be obvious. I used a Tamron 28mm lens on my Canon DSLR and there was a noticeable lack of contrast. For most folks, it probably wouldn't have been noticeable, but I was shooting low-light situations and the difference could be seen by me. You bought a good camera; save your money and get the Canon lens. You won't be sorry when you see the results. But I would also recommend considering using fixed length lenses IF you can; the lenses are less expensive and will be faster than the comprised zoom lens. The problem with using fixed length lenses is you DO need to buy different lengths and may wind up spending as much as you would for a really superb zoom lens. It really comes down to how you work and if you can get what you need from the fixed length. Try shooting a few different scenes and making a note of when you actually use the zoom function. If you can plan your scene to use specific focal lengths on the zoom lens, then you can probably switch over to fixed length lenses. Hope this helps, good luck!
  • could a wide angle zoom replace a prime lens with f/2.8 aperture? I like the Tokina 11-16mm for the price? but it is the same price as the canon 10-22mm but that one has a 3.5-something more aperture but I could always just buy the 50mm 1.8 prime for the aperture so what would you do? Its a very ugly lens by the way
    • If your asking about if replacing a 50mm with a 11-16mm is the same thing, then you obviously need to learn some stuff about lens.
