I Need a Clarinet in the Key of A...? I looked all over google, ebay, and amaazon. I couldn't find anything.
I have a professional level Bb Clarinet (a limited edition Selmer made in Paris), but I'm part of an outside orchestra that tells me I need an A Clarinet. I only plan on getting an A Clarinet just enough to play decently. However, if I do end up playing for my college orchestra I'll probably buy a better A Clarinet. So I was wondering if you guys can help me find popular intermediate and professional Clarinet models in the key of A and their price ranges.
Thanks in advance!
So there's no actual sound difference between the two clarinets? The music's pretty hard, but if I write down the transposition I could probably play it fine. But there's no actual sound difference between the two instruments? If I played the C on a Bb Clarinet and the C# on the A Clarinet it would sound exactly the same? Because the rest of the clarinetists in my orchestra seem to have both clarinets.

check with the company WOODWIND AND BRASS . There is also a case to hold both clarinets. A clarinets are about the same price as B flat. You rweally don't need a matched pair. Check out selmer and Buffet. you could transpose in your head on the Bflat being a half step away, moving the notes and key a half step. Some do it easily but some fail to accomplish this,.
