Wedding wine that grows in value? My fiance and I are into wines, however right now we are both in school and clearly can not afford the actual bottle we want
for our wedding. What we are looking do is buy a bottle for ourselves and keep it until our 10 or 15 or 20 year anniversarry, or
basically for an indefinite period of time.
I want a worthy wine, what i am interested in is the
Chateau Petrus Pomerol 2005 (year we started dating)
But considering the cost of this bottle to be in the 1500+ vacinity right now, its just out of the question.
We would be willing to spend 500 max... maybe 600 if the bottle was somethign really amazing and
wouild grow in value.
I can not find prices for the 06 or 07 Chateau Petrus Pomerol, if anyone can enlighten me on that it would be great, as
getting an 07 (the year we marry) would be just as marvelous.....however this particular bottle appears to be hard to find.
Any similar suggestions for similar quality of wine?

You could get a bottle of Château d'Yquem. I know it is a dessert wine, but my parents got me a couple of bottles the day I was born and we opened one the day I got married (25 years later) and it was marvelous. Aside from Petrus there are some other Bordeaux that are quite as good, Château Mouton Rothschild (2005) will set you back around $500, Margaux (2005) $350, Château Latour (2005) $500. and there is always the option of vintage champagne like a a Louis Roederer Crystal Rosé ($500) or a double magnum of Perrier Jöuet La Fleur de Champagne ($450) which is specially good for keeping.
