Q&A
  • How much would traveling by train cost from Berlin to Rome/Verona? I just want an estimate. It can be one trip or it can be separated into stopping at cities to board another train. Please estimate the price in euros AND us dollars. Thanks.
    • You need to contact Deutsche Bahn, the German Railways, and ask about the Europa-Spezial offer. This is a limited offer (restricted number of tickets available) at 39 euro 2nd class, 69 euro 1st class. An ordinary 2nd class one-way ticket from Berlin to Rome would be around 210 euro. If you're travelling in the near future, be aware that the Brenner route between Austria (Innsbruck) and Italy is having a lot of maintenance work done to it, and the trains are replaced by buses at the weekend, and there's only a restricted service on weekdays because only one track is in use.

how can i get from venice (italy) to berwang or innsbruck (austria)?
    • You can find train schedules and prices from Venice to Innsbruck here: http://www.fsitaliane.it/homepage_en.html . Most of the options will require a train change in Verona. You can find some additional train options on the German train site: http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en?ld=9687&seqnr=2&ident=od.01108987.1354003108&rt=1&rememberSortType=minDeparture&REQ0HafasScrollDir=1 . this still requires a train change in Verona, but does allow additional times. The difference is that the German and Austrian trains run in cooperation with the Ferrovia Nord trains here in Italy rather than Trenitalia and Trenitalia doesn't list those trains on their site or sell tickets for them. There is a ticket office near the steps up to binario (track) 1 in the Verona station where you can get tickets for the additional trains..
  • Train From Brussels to Innsbruck (Austria)? I have never travelled by train and I'm finding it very difficult to understand the information handed to me on the different websites. Could you maybe approximatively give me a price for this journey and if you maybe know how many transfers there are, if I want to travel from Brussels- Gare Centrale to Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof! Thanks a lot, I'm impatiently awaiting your reply!
    • The site of German rail is available in many languages including English How often you have to change the train depends on the exact day and time you want to travel least 3 times but many 5 or even more changes. If you book long enough in advance you can get cheap tickets in the section offers.
  • Innsbruck-Paris? I am planning to go by train from Innsbruck (Austria) to Paris(France) this summer: -What type of trains can i use? Which is the fastest? -What r the ticket prices? any group or student tickets? -How long is the journey? Thx in advance :D
    • There is more than one way to go to Paris from Innsbruck. ICE, TGV trains and Thalys are usally the quickest. You can either go via Germany or Switzerland. You can get an reduce fare from people under 26 on the French rail system. I am not sure about prices because you usually save a lot by buying beforehand rather than just walking up and buying them and I know a lot of times they won't send tickets aboard. The journey seem to be between 11 and 14 hours long.
  • Innsbruck to Frankfurt by train? Hi.. Can anyone give me any info on where l can get prices of a one way train trip from Innsbruck to Frankfurt. I want to go as cheaply as possible. Thanks :)
    • Go to http://www.bahn.de/international/view/en/index.shtml It's the German rail site. You can check fares from Innsbruck even though it's in Austria and it will give you the full fare and cheap fares. Be careful because there are now 2 Frankfurts in Germany. Frankfurt am Main is the one in the west. Frankfurt an der Oder is in what used to be East Germany. Good luck.
  • How much will an OBB train between Innsbruck Hbf (Austria )and Bolzano/Bozen (Italy) cost? I think it will cost about 19 Euros, but not too sure. Also, the website is annoyingly not allowing you to view prices plus I'm not fluent in German!
    • Hi. I called the OBB Callcenter and they told me it's 10Euro if you are having a Vorteilscard and its 15Euro if you are not havin one! Forget the so- called Sparschiene- it s 29Euros so much more expensive as if you buy the regular ticket!
